Vienna Prison near Gestapo Headquarters

#1
Anyone have any information about the Vienna prison, under the police station(?),near the Gestapo Headquarters where political prisoners were held? My father and another airman were held there after their B24 bomber was shot down on March 22,1945.

Vienna Gestapo prison-destination~Vienna

Thank you for the replies and information thus far.
My father said..."the interrogator was a German officer who spoke excellent English...before the war he was a former professor of English at a university."

After the interrogation.. they were taken to a 20x20 cell that held 16 other prisoners including a former government minister, french prisoners were acting as orderlies............

Do you think this was the main gestapo headquarters or a detention cell under a close by city police station?
They were aided in their 4/7/1945 escape by all prisoners and 2 Austrian guards.

They went to a hospital and asked for a woman doctor.who came down to meet them, took them to her apartment and hid them for several days until the Russians gained control of the city.

Anyone with thoughts or information about any aspect of this????

@Josef & all

They described it as a "city police station prison-a gestapo prison"-about a 10 minute truck ride from where Sgt Dennick landed (and he landed on the roof of a hospital). They were imprisoned with about 20 others-a former government minister,a Yugoslavian doctor(with whom they also escaped),a Czech and a Romanian Officer to name a few.The Austrian guards said they had to stay due to an outbreak of typhus and they would eventually be sent to a Stalag about 30km away.
In prison, they were given the addresses of several safe houses but eventually made their way to a "clinic" where the woman doctor worked. They had to cross a bridge ,near a park, to get over the canal.

Welches Spitalsdach? Versuch der Rekonstruktion einer Stunde....

St.Josef gäbs auch noch da draußen...
Auf page 12 von MACR13121 (Casualty questionnaire von William W. Edwards)
steht folgendes, die Flugroute erhellend:

... 4. What was the mission, "Bombing Vienna" ,target, "R.R. Yards" ,target time,
"1300", altitude, "24.000", route scheduled "Base to Weng to Zwettl to Znaim", route flown "same"
....
(Texte in Gänsefüßchen maschingeschrieben, Rest Formularvordruck)

Nun..

Yes-I went back and looked at the MACRI report again...route is as you describe..this would mean the squadron approached Vienna (from Zwetti) on a slightly southeasterly route coming in just north of the center of the city(possibly to avoid a repeat of the mistakes of the 3/12/1945 mission to Floridsdorf refinery where target was missed by 15 air seconds)
MACRI report also indicates plane flying southeasterly to target and begins to turn to the right after "bombs away" over target and gets hit after about 30 seconds from target.

Route was Pantanella to Weng to Zwetti to Znojno to Vienna

Die Liesl ...

Ach ja. Kenn ma noch aus Führerscheinprüfungszeiten.

@ our US guests: the nicknamed "Liesl" is an old casern building. The "Rossauerkaserne" built in 1865-69. An old story (who can tell if it's true?) tells that the architect commited suicide after realizing he had forgotten the toilets ...
