Gestapo Headquarters at Vienna were already bombed and completely destroyed in Februrary 1945 (Blauensteiner, 1945)! So it could still be a Gestapo prison, but not Gestapo Headquarters itself.

But I don´t know where in Vienna Gestapo was resituated after the bomb attack.

Prison in Vienna-Liesl-aka Rossauerlande

This looks and sounds like a potential fit..it was 8 blocks away from the main gestapo headquarters at Hotel Metropole and it was used to incarcerate criminals and political prisoners.
According to my book Destination~Vienna..my father described the cell as about 20 feet by 20 feet with six beds and a toilet and contained 16 prisoners plus Sgt Dennick and himself(18).They had to rotate in shifts to sleep on the beds.

I'll look for further informations about this buildings in timescape from 1938-1945 next week. Maybe I can get more informations.

Die Liesl ...

Ach ja. Kenn ma noch aus Führerscheinprüfungszeiten.

@ our US guests: the nicknamed "Liesl" is an old casern building. The "Rossauerkaserne" built in 1865-69. An old story (who can tell if it's true?) tells that the architect commited suicide after realizing he had forgotten the toilets ...

Zurück zum Krankenhaus und der Dachlandung: gabs im alten AKH eigentlich so hohe Gebäude?
I've never heard the name "Liesl" in conjunction with any kind of military installation anywhere in Austria. As far as I know, the "Rossauerkaserne" is and has always been the HQ of the police in Vienna?

It seems we are talking about two different buildings: The Rossauer Laende and the Rossauer Kaserne. I was only aware of the Rossauer Kaserne, I have actually never heard of the Rossauer Laende.
